Taal Volcano

Taal Volcano, one of the lowest volcanoes in the world, is composed of at least 35 cones coalesced by several eruptions and distributed over an area of 23 square kms. It is located approximately 14° 00‘ latitude and 121° 00‘ longitude near the center. Surrounded by a body of fresh water (Taal Lake) beneath which several volcanic platforms are present, the volcano offers a unique example in the Philippines of an active volcano rising out within a large volcanic depression. Taal Volcano was declared a National Geological Monument on November 25, 1985.
